One fateful night I was attacked by a heroin addict while hitch-hiking Northern California. From that point forward I made a conscious decision to chase my ambitions.

Hey, I am Neal Steeno. You don’t know me yet, but picture a guy you could sit down by a nice fire with enjoying a mezcal neat. As a middle child, growing up in the solitude of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, finding ways to have fun boiled down to re-creating SNL skits, trying to beat my brother in any sport or fishing. For the last decade I have been on a mission to be a kind human but also tack-off goals on my bucket list. One being an on-camera host or actor. And… wouldn’t you know it… that’s what I’m doing.

Much of my most recent work has revolved around spotlighting the men, outdoor places and businesses that really embody the Midwest. You’ll find writing and film work featured on the publication Midwestern Gentleman. We’ve interviewed lumberjacks to modern day leather-makers. Since we began this project a few years ago, our work has been featured on Stormy Kromer and breathed life on thousands of social media channels.

In 2015, I made an award-winning short documentary called Naneek. For two weeks, we followed my good friend and Vietnam combat veteran back to the hill he fought on. Sat down with former enemy (the North Vietnamese Army Soldiers — known as NVA). And, ultimately, captured the emotional story of a veteran trying to heal the wounds from his time at war. My role was Director, but I also captured sound and led our field interviews.

My true passion lies in traveling, interviewing unique people and capturing the details that surround us. In my early twenties, I was traveling the US doing conservation work along with trying my hand trying to make it big in Hollywood. One fateful night I was attacked by a heroin addict while hitch-hiking Northern California. A homeless man with an NRA shirt stood behind the man ready to pounce. From that point forward I made a conscious decision to chase my ambitions and use my life currency of comedy & storytelling. So, here we are…

Just incase, his miming versatility can be seen here.
